High-volume commercial gold plating for designers, retailers, and manufacturers — consistent quality at scale.
Fashion jewellery gold plating is a commercial-scale service for designers, retailers, and manufacturers who need consistent, attractive gold finishes across large quantities of pieces. We work with brass, copper, zinc alloy, and other base metals common in fashion jewellery production.
Fashion jewellery operates on different economics to fine jewellery — volume, consistency, and turnaround time are as important as quality. Our commercial plating process is designed to deliver uniform results across batches of any size, from small designer runs of 50 pieces to wholesale orders of several thousand.
The most common plating thickness for fashion jewellery is Flash (0.05–0.1 µm) or Standard (0.5–1.0 µm). Flash is the most economical option and is appropriate for seasonal pieces, display items, and collections where the price point requires minimal gold content. Standard plating provides noticeably better durability for pieces that will be worn regularly.
We work with designers at all stages — from pre-production samples through to full production runs. If you are developing a new collection, we recommend starting with a small sample batch to confirm the finish and thickness before committing to full production quantities.
Fashion jewellery often uses base metals that require careful preparation — zinc alloy (zamak) in particular can be challenging to plate and requires specific cleaning and strike processes to achieve good adhesion. We have extensive experience with these materials and can advise on the best approach for your specific pieces.
We also offer re-plating services for returned or unsold stock that has faded or tarnished. This is a cost-effective way to refresh inventory rather than writing it off.
What We Plate
How It Works
Send us your pieces or production samples with quantity, base metal, and desired finish. We provide a per-unit quote and can plate a sample batch for approval before full production.
Ship your pieces to our Sydney workshop. For large orders, we can arrange courier collection. We provide a receipt and batch reference number for tracking.
All pieces are cleaned in batches — ultrasonic cleaning followed by electrolytic degreasing. Consistent preparation across the batch ensures uniform plating results.
Copper or nickel undercoat applied as required by the base metal. Zinc alloy pieces receive a copper strike for adhesion. This step is critical for consistent coverage on complex shapes.
Gold deposited to your specified thickness. We maintain consistent bath chemistry and monitor each batch for uniformity. Flash and Standard are our most common thicknesses for fashion jewellery.
A sample from each batch is inspected for coverage and adhesion. Completed pieces are counted, packaged, and returned with full tracking and a batch report.
